The Three Lions fought valiantly, taking an impressive 2-0 lead, but Franz Beckenbauer and Uwe Seeler levelled the score to take the tie to extra time, and a heart-breaking Gerd Muller goal in the 108th minute sealed West Germany's progression to the quarter-finals.
